Milwaukee Road No. 1649 was an EMD NW2 locomotive that was built by the Electro-Motive Division for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway (or better known as the Milwaukee Road) in 1947.

Milwaukee Road No. 1649 was constructed in 1947 by the Electro-Motive Division as one of the eight examples of the Milwaukee Road's EMD NW2 locomotives, and the Milwaukee Road had classified their units as the class "10-ES", No. 1649 was delivered to the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway (or better known as the Milwaukee Road) after it was constructed.
Milwaukee Road No. 1649 would be retired from the Milwaukee Road's roster and it was sold to a railfan in Rockford, Illinois, who was attempting to start their own railroad museum there. When the attempt had failed, No. 1649 and Mississippi Eastern No. 303 were donated to the Monticello Railway Museum in Monticello, Illinois.
It was restored to operational condition after being donated to the museum, and it was completed in 2003, the locomotive was taken out of service and returned to static display due to it suffering from problems with its electrical system in 2021.
As of today, Milwaukee Road No. 1649 is currently on static display after it was taken out of service due to problems with its electrical system, with the chances of it being restored to operational condition being undetermined.
