The Milwaukee Road Class 3.8-DS was a class of two Davenport 44-ton switcher diesel locomotives built by the Davenport Locomotive Works for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway (better known as the Milwaukee Road) in 1942.

In all, only two locomotives were ever constructed in 1942 by the Davenport Locomotive Works and they were all delivered to the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway (better known as the Milwaukee Road) that same year in 1942.
Both locomotives remained in service on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway (better known as the Milwaukee Road) for sixteen years until both were retired in 1958 and their current whereabouts are unknown, with one of them, No. 997 being last photographed on July 30, 1964.
