The Metroliner was a high-speed EMU type train set purchased by the Pennsylvania Railroad. It did not enter service until after the Penn Central merger. After Penn Central went bankrupt Amtrak was formed and took over the Metroliners. The Metroliners were phased out mainly by the Acela Express trains.
A driving unit exists, preserved at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, in Strasburg, PA.
