"LAR Q-Train" is a colloquial name used to describe the Lantau Airport Railway Vision Train, a set of suburban electric multiple units on order by the MTR Corporation for operation on the Tung Chung Line and Airport Express of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway from 2026.
History[]
The LAR Q-Train was designed as a replacement for the A-Trains operating on the Lantau Airport Railway (LAR) since 1997; "Lantau Airport Railway" is a term used to refer to both the Tung Chung Line and Airport Express due to both lines sharing tracks.
A procurement contract for these trains was issued in 2020 by the MTR Corporation, stating that the A-Trains were planned to be replaced due to aging and with no large scale refurbishments planned. The new trains are expected to enter service around 2026.

The LAR Q-Trains are likely to feature a design similar to that of the Q-Trains used on various urban lines in Hong Kong.
