The Louisville and Nashville Class J-5 (also known as Louisville and Nashville No. 1999) was the sole example of a three-cylinder 2-8-2 "Mikado" type steam locomotives that was built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO)'s own Brooks Works in 1924.

Louisville and Nashville No. 1999 was constructed in 1924 by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) at their own Brooks Works and it was delivered to the Louisville and Nashville Railroad that same year in 1924.
Louisville and Nashville No. 1999 had featured the Walschaerts Valve Gear on the outside known to be the two external cylinders, and Gresley's Conjugated Valve Gear on the inside known to be the third internal cylinder.
No. 1999 was retired from revenue service and it wasn't preserved, and it was scrapped after being retired, thus rendering Louisville and Nashville Class J-5 extinct.
