Long Island Railroad No. 399 is a GS-1 25-Ton "Dinky" switcher locomotive built for the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) in August 1958.
History[]
LIRR No. 399 operated in switcher service during it's career, not unlike the other locomotives of it's type. It was eventually retired and donated to the Railroad Museum of Long Island in Riverhead, NY.
Restoration[]
The RMLI restored No. 399 to operating condition, but it was limited to a small section of track in the museum's display yard. Hopefully one day it can pull excursion trains or at least demonstrate switching in the Riverhead yard.
