Long Island Railroad No. 38 was a G5s 4-6-0 built by the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata Shops in 1929 for the then PRR subsidiary, the Long Island Railroad.
It was part of the principal fleet of passenger locomotives alongside K4s and RS-3s, the latter of which eventually replaced them.
In 1955, No. 38 was formally retired as the railroad replaced its steam locomotives with more efficient diesel-electric locomotives.
Soon afterwards it was sold for scrap.
