Locomotive Wiki

This page is being wound up. Please refer to Locomotive Wiki:Policies and guidelines instead.

This page still exists for the following reasons:

  1. We have no 'content' policy yet, so rubbish policy is better than no information
  2. We have no user page policy yet

The rest is either included in the new policies, or is obsolete...

I'll cross off these as they're created/moved, if I remember. However, if this notice falls into oblivion, then you'll know they're all across when this page is deleted.

These are the rules of editing this wiki. If you disobey them, then you may get blocked from this site after due warning.

  • No swearing or using any sexual language!
  • No spamming!
  • No rude comments!
  • Keep terminology to that of the origin of the article's subject.
  • Only edit your user page and not anyone else's unless asked to do so.
  • Make sure that what you name the image makes sense. In other words, do not name an image 'jbf2354438fbcjw*Y78283eR%$&R&%.jpg', 'Picture 004.JPG', 'Capture 005.png' or similar. Name it after the article and what number image it is. (For example: 'Sir Haydn.jpg', 'Dash 9.jpg', or similar.)
  • Treat others the way you want to be treated!
  • No trolling!
  • Keep religious arguments off this Wiki!
  • No fictional-based locomotive articles! (Ex: Little Engine that Could)
  • Do not copy and paste from any other site as this is plagiarism, as information and images there might not be all ways for public use.
  • And please don't vandalise the wiki.

Getting Help

Check out the help pages for editing instructions. However, for personal assistance, please contact one of the wiki's administrators:

Notes:

  1. If any article were to contain any information that didn't involve any information about a locomotive or focus on a locomotive; like tracks, signals, or bridges; it will be deleted or edited! (Routes are acceptable! But if the article were to contain any information about the appearance of a particular track, it will be edited or deleted!)
  2. The only other articles which don't focus all entirely on locomotives would be the warning devices, locomotive designers, builders, and companies. These articles are acceptable because they don't involve mentioning rolling stock. (Aside from cabless diesel locomotives; 'slugs', and electric or diesel trainsets!)
  3. If you don't like how this site mainly focusses on locomotives, then create a Rollingstock or Trains Wiki!
  4. Railroads are acceptable! They, of course, own locomotives!
  5. Museums with locomotives are acceptable! Just as long as they actually have preserved locomotives!
