Despite many steam locomotives being retired from active service, there have been plans for many of these engines to be returning back to running condition, or basically, they are planned for restoration. And these range from locomotives that are going to be restored, to locomotives that are planned for restoration but are currently in a fundraiser, etc. These range from steam locomotives to diesel locomotives to electric locomotives to railcars, all over the place.
