Lee-Tidewater Cypress Co. No. 18 is a 2-6-0 "Mogul" type steam locomotive it was built for the Redman Lumber Co., as No. 12 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in March 1920.

It was built for hauling on the log trains on the Redman Lumber Co. for much of it's career. But at some point, the locomotive was sold to Georgia Car & Locomotive, then to the Lee Tidewater Cypress Co., in Copeland, FL, where it is renumbered as No. 18. It moved to the J. C. Turner Lumber Co., as No. 18 and was sold to the Edaville Corp., of Copeland, FL, in 1962.

When the locomotive was retired from service in 1968, No. 18 was sold on to R. L. Johnson and George Silcott, another dealership and then to the Thompson Winery in Monee, IL.

It was then donated to the Illinois Railway museum in 2008 where it spent years placed on static display.

Today, this Mogul is not at the Illinois Railway Museum anymore because in 2017, the museum sold the locomotive to the Gramling Locomotive Works in Ashley, Indiana.

Trivia[]

  • This 2-6-0 Mogul type locomotive is lacking its front pilot, which makes it appear to be an 0-6-0 switcher.
  • The locomotive used to be on display at the museum from 2008-2017.
