LNER Class A4 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley is a 4-6-2 "Pacific" type three-cylinder streamlined passenger steam locomotive built in 1937 at Doncaster Works for the London and North Eastern Railway.
Withdrawn from service by British Railways in February 1966, it was saved from the cutter's torch by the A4 Preservation Society, which was soon renamed the A4 Locomotive Society, now a registered charity "the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust" - www.sirnigelgresley.org.uk.
In late 2015, No. 60007's boiler ticket expired and the locomotive was withdrawn from service for an major overhaul. The locomotive eventually returned to service in March 2022, having been repainted in the L.N.E.R. Wartime Black livery at the same time before being repainted back into the B.R. Express Passenger Blue livery in January 2023.

- During 1994, Sir Nigel Gresley spent some time at the Great Central Railway and then at the East Lancashire Railway.
- The locomotive achieved the official post war speed record for steam traction of over 112 mph on the 23rd of May 1959
- On the same day, it reached 100 mph on three separate occasions, a unique achievement.
