The LNER Class A4 No. 4489, named as Dominion of Canada, is a 4-6-2 "Pacific" Steam locomotive built May 24, 1937 at Doncaster Works especially for the prestigious "Coronation" service. Originally it was to be named "Woodcock" and painted with the LNER Standard apple green but for publicity reasons, it was renamed "Dominion of Canada" and painted garter blue as with all its siblings. At the end of the Second World War, it was renumbered 10 though it kept the bell and whistle till 1949, ere they were removed, and the Canadian Pacific 5-chime was replaced with the standard A4 Crosby chime whistle, and it was renumbered 60010. The Locomotive remained in service on British Railways until the 1960’s when it was withdrawn in 1965 and shipped to Canada. It remains in Canada today.
