Cameronian was a A3 4-6-2 steam locomotive that was originally built as a A1 for the LNER by Doncaster Works in 1934. It hauled express trains. The engine was rebuilt to a A3 at a unknown date. In 1937, 2505 was seen puffing next to three A4s (one of them were 2512 "Silver Fox"). 2505 was renumbered to 575 but was soon renumbered to 40 in 1946, 40 was later renumbered to 60040 in 1948 When the LNER was merged to form British Railways. 60040 served intill being withdrawn in 1964 and scrapped at Hughes Bolckow, North Blyth.
