The London Midland Scottish Railway 2F Class were 0-6-0 side tank steam locomotives.

History[]

The class was designed by the LMS (London Midland Scottish Railway)'s chief mechanical engineer at the time Sir Henry Fowler for use as dock shunters with a lot of power. Ten were built in 1928 to 1929 at Derby Works. They were renumbered three times.[1][2][3][4]

All ten continued to operate until British Railways took over the LMS in 1948 where some were reallocated to Scottish depots and branch lines. Withdrawals began in 1959 with last being withdrawn from service in 1964.[1][2][3][4]

Preservation[]

The last of the class No.47165 was withdrawn in 1964 and wasn't preserved being scrapped soon after. No replicas or new builds are currently planned for the class.[1][2][3][4]
