The LMS 0-6-6-0 Mallet was a proposed 0-6-6-0 Mallet type steam locomotive that was designed for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway.
Ideas for the design[]
The LMS 0-6-6-0 Mallet would have featured some unique features that would have never been attempted by the UK before (other than the Garratt type). Those features would have been an articulated frame that can pivot on a hinge and four compound cylinders for the locomotive.
It was supposed to be built by the Horwich Locomotive Works, and would have been the LMS's only Mallet locomotive, the LMS's only 0-6-6-0 locomotive ever, the UK's only 0-6-6-0 locomotive ever to be proposed.
Why wasn't it built?[]
The Reason why this Proposed Potential British Mallet Locomotive wasn't Built was Because of some Other Issues regarding Mallet Locomotives in the United States of America, and They never Ended Up building this locomotive, but They ended Up with a Similar Result thus being the LMS Garratts.
