Originally numbered 46, and named Newington is a A1X Terrier, tank engine it was built by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) at their Brighton works, being delivered in January 1877

History[]

Newington was built by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) at their Brighton works, later being sold to southern railway. She would work on the SR doing shunting and passenger work till the mid 1990s, when all the steam locomotives were being scrapped.

She was bought by Isle of Wight Steam Railway and restored and runs there today.
