The Kintetsu 16600 series is a Japanese limited express electric multiple unit operated by the Kintetsu Railway since June 2010.
History[]
The 16600 series sets were designed as a barrier-free version of the 22600 series sets for use on narrow-gauge lines. Two sets were produced in 2010, both by Kinki Sharyo; both entered service in July 2010. The sets are part of the Ace family of trains but are not officially branded as such. The sets were repainted in 2016.
Design[]
- Main article: Kintetsu 22600 series
The 16600 series sets use a flat design with top-mounted headlight clusters. The sets feature gangwayed cab ends, allowing the sets to couple with other limited express sets.
Specifications[]
Construction is of steel. The trains use Hitachi IGBT traction systems which produce a hissing sound.
