The JR Freight Class EH200 is a semi-permanently-coupled DC electric locomotive operated by the Japan Freight Railway Company since 2001.
Operations[]
As of 2017, twenty-five examples of the EH200 Class are in service on JR Freight (prototype EH200-901 and EH200-1 to EH200-24).
Based out of Takasaki depot, their primary use is on oil tanker trains North of Tokyo, as well as on the Chuo, Shinonoi, and Joetsu Lines, formerly worked by the Class EF64 electrics.
The locomotives are nicknamed ECO-Power Blue Thunder.
