The JR Freight Class DD200 is a diesel-electric locomotive operated by the Japan Freight Railway Company since 2017.
History[]
The DD200 is a diesel-electric locomotive designed by JR Freight to replace the aging DE10 and DE11 locomotives.
The first locomotive, DD200-901, was completed in June 2017; it entered service in 2017 after some tests. Full-production models began construction in August 2019. JR Freight owns 24 locomotives while JR Kyushu owns one locomotive, numbered in the -700 subseries.
One locomotive, numbered DD200-601, is used by the Mizushima Rinkai Railway, and another, numbered DD200-801, is used by the freight-only Keiyō Rinkai Railway. Keiyō Rinkai's locomotive is nicknamed Red Marine.

The DD200s are fitted with a FDML30Z prime mover and FMT102 traction motors; the prime mover is a Komatsu SAA12V140E-3 prime mover produced under license. It produces 1,217 PS (895 kW).
