The JNR Class HE10 was a proposed 2-10-2 Santa Fe-type steam locomotive intended to be operated by the Japanese National Railways.
History[]
The Class HE10s were designed by the Japanese Ministry of Railways as part of the Japanese bullet train project, which was ultimately canceled due to the onset of the Pacific War and none were ultimately produced. Little is known about the locomotive other than the fact that it was likely intended for use as a shunting locomotive for the aborted bullet train project. The locomotive would have likely been similar to the Class HE11 but was lighter.
