The JNR Class E10 is a 2-10-4T Texas-type side tank steam locomotive operated by the Japanese National Railways from 1948 to 1962.
History[]
The E10s were introduced during a time when the GHQ prevented the JNR from building new locomotives due to financial issues, although an exception was granted to replace the older JNR Class 4110 tank locomotives. The locomotives were retired in 1962. The locomotives were known as the largest tank locomotives manufactured for domestic use and could quite possibly be the largest tank locomotives in the world. They are the only 2-10-4T steam locomotives produced in volume; there may have been some 2-10-4T steam locomotives in Europe although the Class E10 is the most well known.
One locomotive, E10 2, is preserved at the Ōme Railway Park.
Preservation[]
The following Class E10 locomotives have been preserved:
Number | Manufacturer | Date manufactured | Serial number | Date withdrawn | Location | Notes |

Trivia[]
- The E10 steam locomotives were the last steam locomotives built for the JGR. While technically the C63 steam locomotives were designed later, none were actually built.
