The JNR Class C10 is a 2-6-4T Adriatic-type side tank steam locomotive built for the JNR from 1930.
History[]
The C10s were used mainly as freight locomotives and was introduced in order to replace older steam locomotives during the Japanese recession after World War I. Production of the locomotives lasted only one year, 1930, with Kawasaki Sharyō and Kisha Seizō manufacturing twenty-three locomotives over that year; production stopped thereafter as focus had shifted to the lighter and more powerful Class C11 locomotives. The locomotives were retired in 1962.
One C10, C10 8, has been preserved.
