The JGR Class Ke 150 was a 0-6-0WT Switcher-type narrow gauge well tank steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways and its successor the Japanese National Railways from 1920 to 1950.
History[]
The Class Ke 150 was an early steam locomotive used in Japan. The locomotives were ordered by the Japanese Government Railways in 1920. A total of four locomotives were produced by the Fukagawa Dockyard and Machine Works, with two locomotives each manufactured in December 1920 and February 1921; these were the first locomotives ordered by the JGR manufactured by the Fukagawa Dockyard and Machine Works.
The locomotives were virtually identical to the Ke 100 locomotives also manufactured by the same company for JGR in 1922, apart from their wheel arrangements and a slightly different tank configuration. All four locomotives were stationed in different parts of Japan; Ke 150 and Ke 153 were stationed in Tokyo and Ke 151 and Ke 152 in Shinjō. The locomotives moved around Japan numerous times before they were struck off in 1953, although it is likely they were withdrawn from service around 1950.
No Class Ke 150 locomotives have been preserved.
