The JGR Class Ke 110 was a 0-4-0WT Switcher-type narrow gauge well tank steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1922 to 1931.
History[]
The Class Ke 110 was an early steam locomotive used in Japan. The locomotives were ordered by the Japanese Government Railways in 1922, with two locomotives completed by Nippon Sharyo in January 1922; these were the first locomotives ordered by the JGR manufactured by Nippon Sharyo. The short lead time between order and production was likely due to Nippon Sharyo anticipating production of the locomotives.
Stated to be close to a carbon copy (if not a complete carbon copy) of an Orenstein & Koppel design, the locomotives were numbered Ke 110 and Ke 111 and stationed at Shimonoseki. They were only used for a few years before they were withdrawn in September 1931.
No Class Ke 110 locomotives have been preserved. Few photos exist of the locomotives.
