The JGR Class 8250 (originally the Sanyo Railway Class 22) was a 2-6-0 Mogul-type Vauclain compound steam locomotive built for the JGR in 1903.

History

The 8250, originally known as the Class 22, was built as an example of the Vauclain compound locomotive being used in Japan; little is known about the locomotive's service history. One locomotive was produced by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and imported into Japan in 1903 and was displayed at a symposium in Osaka the same year. The locomotive was later renamed to Class 8250 in 1909 with the establishment of a formal rule regarding locomotive classifying after the Sanyo Railway was nationalized. The locomotive was retired in 1919.

The locomotive did not survive into preservation.
