The JGR Class 7550 (originally the Hokkaido Government Railway Class B7) was a 2-6-0 Mogul-type steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1904 to 1932.

History

The Class 7550 was an early steam locomotive operated in Japan. The type was ordered by the Hokkaido Government Railway, with a total of three locomotives manufactured by the American Locomotive Company in 1904. These were classified as the Class B7 locomotives and numbered 31 through 33. These were later reclassified as the Class Ef with their numbers unchanged.

The locomotives were reclassified as the Class 7550 in 1909 when a formal rule regarding standardized classification of locomotives was enacted; the locomotives were thus renumbered 7550 through 7552. The locomotives were initially used on the Kamikawa, Tokachi and Teshio Lines (now the Hakodate, Nemuro and Sōya Main Lines respectively); in their later careers they were used in Asahikawa, Otoineppu and Hamakushiro. All were retired by 1932, with none sold to private railroads. No Class 7550s have been preserved.
