The JGR Class 7500 (originally the Hokkaido Government Railway Class B6) was a 2-6-0 Mogul-type steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1903 to 1949.

History

The Class 7500 was an early steam locomotive operated in Japan. The type was ordered by the Hokkaido Government Railway, with a total of four locomotives manufactured by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1903. These were classified as the Class B6 locomotives and numbered 27 through 30. Another two locomotives were delivered in 1904, numbered 34 and 35. These were later reclassified as the Class Ef with their numbers unchanged.

The locomotives were reclassified as the Class 7500 in 1909 when a formal rule regarding standardized classification of locomotives was enacted; the locomotives were thus renumbered 7500 through 7505. The locomotives were initially used around Nayoro, but then were moved to Asahikawa for shunting; in their later careers they were used in Kushiro. Retirements began in 1948, with the last locomotive, 7500, retired in 1949, with none sold to private railroads. No Class 7500s have been preserved.
