The JGR Class 7300 (originally the Hokkaido Government Railway Class B5) was a 2-6-0 Mogul-type steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1903 to 1933.

History

The Class 7300 was an early steam locomotive operated in Japan. The type was ordered by the Hokkaido Government Railway, with a total of four locomotives manufactured by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1903. These were classified as the Class B5 locomotives and numbered 23 through 26. These were later reclassified as the Class Ee with their numbers unchanged.

The locomotives were reclassified as the Class 7300 in 1909 when a formal rule regarding standardized classification of locomotives was enacted; the locomotives were thus renumbered 7300 through 7303. The locomotives were initially used around Asahikawa and Fukagawa; in their later careers they were used as shunting locomotives in Muroran. The locomotives were all retired by 1933, with none sold to private railroads. No Class 7300s have been preserved.
