The JGR Class 6750 was a 4-4-0 American-type superheated steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1913 to 1950.
History[]
The Class 6750 is in essence a superheated derivative of the Class 6700 locomotives. The locomotives were designed by Yoshimatsu Ota, who also designed the Class 6700 locomotives; the locomotives were chosen to have been designed to be superheated based on good performances from the Class 8800 and 8850 locomotives equipped with Schmidt-type superheaters. This locomotive is said to be a precursor of the Class 6760 locomotives.
A total of six locomotives were manufactured by the Kawasaki Shipyards (now Kawasaki Heavy Industries) in 1913. These, like the Class 6700s, were also used to pull short passenger trains. All locomotives were retired by 1950, with none sold to private railroads. No Class 6750s have been preserved.
