The JGR Class 3165 (originally the Chūgoku Railway Class 6) was a 2-6-2T Prairie-type side tank steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1910 to 1948.

History

The Class 3165 was an early steam locomotive operated in Japan. The type was ordered by the Chūgoku Railway, with one locomotive built by Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG, better known as Hanomag, in Germany and delivered to the railroad in 1910; the locomotive was classified the Class 6 and numbered 10.

The locomotive was reclassified the Class 3165 and renumbered as such after the Chūgoku Railway was acquired by the JGR in 1944. After the locomotive was acquired by the JGR it saw little use before it was scrapped in 1948. The locomotive was not well-liked by the crews on the Chūgoku Railway.
