The JGR Class 3060 (originally the Hokkaido Colliery and Railway Company Class J) was a 2-6-2T Prairie-type side tank steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1898 to 1934.

History

The Class 3060 was an early steam locomotive operated in Japan. The type was ordered by the Hokkaido Colliery and Railway Company, with three locomotives built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and delivered to the railroad in 1898; these were classified the Class J and numbered 47 through 49. The locomotives were renamed the Class 3060 in 1909 with a rule having been enacted to standardize locomotive naming with the locomotives renumbered 3060 through 3062.

The locomotives were retired on the JGR in 1934, with 3061 sold to the Katagami Railway and numbered 7, then moved to the Okayama Rinkoh Railway after the Pacific War before retiring in 1953. No Class 3060s have been preserved.
