The JGR Class 1320 (originally the Kyushu Railway Classes 90 and 166) was a 0-6-0T Switcher-type side tank steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1894 to 1964.

History

The Class 1320 was an early steam locomotive operated in Japan. The type was ordered by the Chikuhō Railway and Toyosu Railway, with three locomotives built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in the United States and imported into Japan in 1894. Two locomotives went to the Hokkaido Railway and numbered 20 and 21, while one went to Toyosu and numbered 1. A second locomotive for the Toyosu Railway was delivered in 1896 and numbered 5. Both railroads were acquired by the Kyushu Railway in 1906, with the Chikuhō locomotives classified the Class 90 and the Toyosu locomotives the Class 166; they were renumbered 90 – 91 and 166 and 170 for each class.

When the Railway Nationalization Act was passed in 1909, the locomotives were reclassified as the Class 1320 and numbered 1320 through 1323. Both locomotives were moved around a number of times, but all of them ultimately ended up in service on the Yahata Steel Works industrial railroad, numbered 314, 315, 393 and 394; they were later renumbered to 339, 340, 350 and 351. The locomotives were retired by 1964. No Class 1320s have been preserved.
