The JGR Class 1030 (originally the Chūetsu Railway Class Kō 2) was a 0-6-0T Switcher-type side tank steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1900 to the 1937.

History

The Class 1030 was an early steam locomotive operated in Japan. The type was constructed by the Avonside Engine Company and delivered in 1898. According to Avonside records, the locomotive was initially handed over to a trading company, the "China and Japan Trading Company", before being purchased by the Chūetsu Railway in 1900. The locomotive was assigned the class Kō 2 and began service the same year.

After the Railway Nationalization Act was passed in 1909, the locomotive was renumbered the Class 1030. The locomotive was then moved to the Awa Electric Railway in 1923 and remained there until 1937 when it was retired and scrapped.
