The Japan Transport Engineering Company, abbreviated as J-TREC, is a major Japanese locomotive builder.

The company's history dates back to 1948 with the opening of the Tokyu Car Corporation, which manufactured many of Japan's heavy rail rolling stock for a multitude of railways. The company ceased operations on 1 April 2012 after being acquired by JR East and was renamed as the Japan Transport Engineering Company, the name which it remains with today. J-TREC mainly manufactures vehicles for JR East, but also manufactures vehicles for other companies as well.
