The Japan Transport Engineering Company, abbreviated as J-TREC, is a major Japanese locomotive builder, headquartered in Yokohama, Japan.

J-TREC was founded in November 2011 as Shin Tokyu Sharyō (lit. New Tokyu Car Corporation) as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tokyu Car Corporation due to sluggish demand, with the intent of selling off their rolling stock manufacturing business to the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) in April 2012. On 1 April 2012, Tokyu Car sold their car manufacturing business to Shin Tokyu, who in turn sold it to JR East the next day.

J-TREC has three plants, located in Yokohama, Wakayama and Niitsu; these plants were formerly owned by Tokyu Car, Teikoku Sharyō (both being predecessor companies of J-TREC) and JR East. In addition to railcars, J-TREC also manufactures shipping containers and containers for goods transport by rail and formerly switches and crossing signals before withdrawing from that business in 2018. J-TREC is said to be the only company with a dedicated production line for transportation containers.

J-TREC now mainly makes railcars for Tokyu Corporation as well as JR East, but has also manufactured cars for numerous other railway companies.
