1404 was a 2-8-0 steam locomotive. 1404 was one of the 92 LNER O4 to be requisitioned for War Department use in September 1941, 61 of which had been built for the Railway Operating Division in World War One. While being at the War departementet it was numbered 70771. 1404 originally saw service in Palestine before it was sent to Iraq. While being at Iraq it was reclassifield as a RD. It was one of the last RDs to be in storage as of March 1967. But its likely it was scrapped later.
