15 is a 4-6-0 steam Locomotive built for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad by Alco in 1897. The locomotive, along with a New York Central 2-8-0 and a Nickle Plate 4-6-0, were sold to a lumber company in Maine. The NKP 4-6-0 was purchased by F. Nelson Blount, and now resides at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton.
IHB 15 and the NYC 2-8-0 were left abandoned in the forest for many years and are now on display in a state park. Contrary to popular belief, these locomotives are not actually abandoned but are part of the state park, and the bare minimum in restoration has been done to them over the years to ensure that they at least remain intact. They have proven to be a popular attraction with visitors to the park, with the gimmick being their abandoned and derelict condition.
#15 is the sole surviving steam locomotive from the Indiana Harbor Belt.
