Georgia Railroad No. 724 is an 0-6-0 (Switcher) type steam locomotive that is currently on static display at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri.
History[]
724 was built as #49 for the Georgia Railroad by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1896. In 1941, it was sold to the East St. Louis Junction Railroad in National City, IL, and it was renumbered as #17. In 1951, it was sold to St. Louis Material & Supply in Pacific, MO, and then to Basic Materials who donated it to the museum in 1964. Today, it's still on display at the Museum of Transportation, and certain parts are painted in different colours and labelled to identify the components of a steam locomotive to visitors.
