Georgetown Loop Railroad No. 9 is a 92-tonner center-cab type narrow gauge diesel locomotive built by General Electric (GE) (exact date and year unknown). It would later be sold in 2006 to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNG) in Durango, CO. It was used on the D&SNG for both switching operations, as well as operating a few short excursion trains from Durango, CO to Rockwood, CO and from Rockwood, CO to Silverton, CO. It was unable to run excursions all of the way from Durango, CO to Silverton, CO due to not having enough horsepower to do so.
In March 2017, it was traded to the Georgetown Loop Railroad between Georgetown and Silver Plume, CO in exchange for DE75CT type diesel No. 1203. However, upon arriving at the Georgetown Loop, it has yet to enter service there. It sat in storage in Silver Plume, CO right behind the Silver Plume roundhouse and shops until being painted into a Georgetown Loop livery and placed on static display next to the water tower they use for their operable narrow gauge steam locomotives. Whether or not it will enter service on the Georgetown Loop is yet to be determined.
