Georgetown Loop Railroad No. 40 is a B-4G class 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type narrow gauge steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, PA in 1920, originally for the International Railways of Central America (IRCA). After its retirement from the IRCA, it was eventually sold to the White Pass & Yukon Route (WP&Y) in Skagway, AK until later being sold again in the 1970s to the Georgetown Loop Railroad between Georgetown and Silver Plume, CO.
It would operate tourist excursion trains on the Georgetown Loop until it was retired from service again in 2004. A year later, in 2005, it was leased to the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, CO to be used as backup power for operating short excursion trains on the museum grounds there. It would do this until 2013 when it was placed in storage at the museum. In 2017, it would be sold back to the Georgetown Loop and was later restored back to operating condition in 2019.
As of today, it is currently one of two operable steam locomotives at the Georgetown Loop, the other one being No. 111, another former IRCA 2-8-0 type locomotive.
