The Great Western Railway (GWR) No. 9792 was a 5700 Class 0-6-0PT Pannier Tank Engine built in 1936 by the GWR Swindon Works for the Great Western Railway.
No. 9792 was sold by British Rails Western Region to the National Coal Board in 1964 where it was then transferred to work at Maerdy Colliery. By 1968 the locomotive was lying derelict at the colliery slowly decaying over time. Even though the preservation movement in the United Kingdom was in full swing at this time, this locomotive was unfortunately missed and was sadly cut-up on-site in 1973.
