GWR No. 4566 is a Great Western Railway (GWR) 4500 Class or Small Prairie 2-6-2T steam locomotive. that was designed by Churchward and built at Swindon 1924.

It was withdrawn from service in April 1962 and was sent to the Woodham Brothers scrapyard. In August 1970 No. 4566 was saved for preservation and was removed from the scrapyard by rail. After an overhaul, No. 4566 steamed for the first time in the preservation era in June 1975. It ran for several years in traffic until 1995 when its 10-year boiler ticket expired.

It returned to service in late 2006 following an overhaul but was withdrawn again in January 2017 following the expiry of its boiler certificate.

It is now currently stored out of service on the Severn Valley Railway on display inside the Engine House at Highley awaiting an overhaul.

  • No. 4566 is one of three surviving examples of the 4500 Class left in preservation.
  • No. 4566 was featured in the 1977 Walt Disney film Candleshoe.
