Exeter St Davids is the main Intercity station serving the city of Exeter. It is operated by First Great Western, but also takes services from CrossCountry and South West Trains. Local buses and taxis also offer onward travel from the station.
St Davids is the second busiest station in Devon, handling around 200,000 fewer passengers each year than Plymouth. Comparing the year from April 2007 to that which started in April 2002, passenger numbers increased by 30%
History[]
The station was opened on 1 May 1844 by the Bristol and Exeter Railway (B&ER), and it was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Later, other railways joined, such as the Crediton and exeter railway, and eventually the GWR was intergrated into the station.
Later, when First Group won the Greater Western franchise, the services run by wessex trains that dominated the station where transfered.

- The station is one of two stations on the GWR line direct between Penzance and London to have any words other than that of the city name (the other being London Paddington ).
