East Broad Top Railroad No. 1 also known a "E R Roberts" was a 2-6-0 "Mogul" type steam locomotive built in March 1873 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, PA under works number 3167.

No. 1 was originally built as part of an order of 16 locomotives for the Cairo and Saint Louis Railroad but they ended up canceling the order so it was instead diverted to the East Broad Top Railroad (EBT) along with its sister engine, EBT No. 2. No. 1 and No. 2 were used to pull trains of building materials as construction along the railroad increased when they were first delivered. After this No. 1 and No. 2 spent most of their lives in passenger service or as a switcher.

With newer and more powerful engines like No. 11 and No. 12 arriving on the line, No. 1 became obsolete for the EBT and was sold to the nearby Tuscarora Valley Railroad (TVRR) sometime between 1911-1912.

By 1922, No. 1 was out of service at the TVRR and was apparently being used as a source for parts. The TVRR line was abandoned in 1934 and all of their remaining locomotives were scrapped. It is assumed that No. 1 was scrapped along with the rest of the fleet if it wasn't already scrapped before this point.
