The EMD SD45X is an experimental 6-axle diesel-electric locomotive that was built General Motors Electro-Motive Division mostly for the Southern Pacific Railroad with a total of seven examples built between June 1970 and February 1971.

Between June 1970 and February 1971, the Electro-Motive Division had built a total of seven units of what had became the EMD SD45X.
As of today, none of the EMD SD45X units are in preservation.
