The E927 Series Shinkansen is a Japanese non-revenue high-speed electric multiple unit planned to be operated by the East Japan Railway Company from 2029.
History[]
The first details of the E927 Series Shinkansen were unveiled as part of JR East's Yushō 2034 program as a future test train to be used by JR East from 2029. It is expected to replace the E926 Series Shinkansen in operation.
Identification[]
Externally, the E10 Series Shinkansen has a streamlined body shape reminiscent of the E5, E6 and E8 Series Shinkansen. The train was designed by tangerine, a London-based design firm.
Details about the train's livery are in the process of being finalized; design proposals for the train are submitted by JR East employees. The train's design is expected to be finalized by 2026.
Specifications[]
The bodies of the sets are constructed of an aluminum alloy. The trains' traction motors are silicon carbide-based MOSFETs. The train is intended to be based on "the successor model to the E6 Series Shinkansen".
