Effie was a small 15 inch Gauge 0-4-0 well tank steam locomotive.
History[]
Effie was constructed by Sir Arthur Percival Heywood in 1875 and was built to provide motive power to his experimental wagons and coaches of his Duffield Bank Railway. What happened to Effie is currently unknown as it was not present when the Duffield Railway was auctioned. It is likely to have been scraped by Sir Arthur Heywood. As it was never a final design and only intended to be used until more adequate motive power was sourced.
Replica Effie[]
In 1999 Great Northern Steam constructed a replica of Effie only using photographs as reference. The locomotive is now based at the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway where it usually operates. It is currently under restoration and privately owned.
