Hunslet No. 1430, also known as "Dolbadarn" was built in 1922. This was one of a pair of locomotives supplied new to the harbor at Port Dinorwic for shunting on the docks. Back then it was simply known as No. 2. In 1936, it was transferred to the quarry at Llanberis, and in 1946 it was given the name "Dolbadarn". The engine worked in the quarry until 1967, being one of the last steam engines to work in a slate quarry in Britain.

In 1969, it was purchased by the Llanberis Lake Railway. It was repaired in time for the opening of the first section of the railway in 1971 and became one of the first three locomotives to run on the line. While undergoing an extensive overhaul in 1996, she was fitted with a new boiler and returned to service in 1997.

"Dolbadarn" still resides at The Llanberis Lake Railway in steam to this day along with some of the other former Dinorwic Slate Quarry locomotives.
