History

Velinheli was built in 1886 by the hunslet engine company as works number 409 being the first of the Dinorwic Quarry Alice class. Velinheli worked at the quarry until 1965 where it sold to the Evans family for operation on their private Inny Valley Railway along with Sybil. Velinheli is currently in storage at the Ffestiniog Railway where a boiler is being sourced after this Velinheli is set to operate on the Launceston Steam Railway.
