Charlie (Formerly known as Dinorwic) was an 0-4-0 saddle tank steam locomotive.

History[]

Charlie was built under contract of Dinorwic Quarry by the Hunslet Engine Company of Leeds in the UK as their builders number 51 of 1870 originally named Dinorwic. Charlie worked at Dinorwic until 1919 being sold either that year or in 1920. Charlie was scrapped in the 1930/40s (Pre 1945).

Historical Significance[]

Charlie formed the basis for the Dinorwic Alice Class which was produced later by Hunslet for all consumers becoming one of the most numerous and iconic narrow gauge locomotives in Wales and possibly the UK.
