The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Class 14-34 1/4 E was a proposed class of a 4-8-2 "Mountain" type steam locomotive for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad.[1]

Proposal[]

The proposal for this locomotive was submitted to the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW) in 1925 as a response to an inquiry about considering the idea of a narrow-gauge 4-8-2 "Mountain" type steam locomotive and it was supposed to be built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works.[1]

Why wasn't it built?[]

The reasons to why the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Class 14-34 1/4 E wasn't built is unknown, but it was assumed that steam technology was considered as old-school.
